Happy Tuesday My Friends!
People often ask me to straighten my hair so they can at least see what it looks at least once before they pass. Since I have natural hair I have little to no desire to wear my hair in a straight manner. In fact, the only reason I ever had it straight was to get it cut and do a length check every 4-6 months. Well, one of the last times I got my hair straighten the stylist gave me heat damage, and in turn I haven’t had my hair straighten or cut in about 12-16 months.
I know…
I finally found a hair salon that deals primarily with natural hair. Most places (that I know of in Dallas) will only trim your hair once you have it blown out, but she can actually cut your hair in its naturally curly state!
*gasp*
Knowing this, I still had her straighten my hair due to my own curiosity. I feel as though she did an amazing job. She had to cut about four inches of hair off because my ends were that bad. You have to remember that I worked in a water recycling plant for two years and I was around nothing but caustic, ferric, polymer, and etc. So my hair and skin are pretty much recovering from all the damage. It’s life. It happens. *Shrugs*
The above pictures are the ones I took on Saturday (the morning after I gotz my hurrz did). The pictures below are right when she finished in the salon. Before you ask, the cable knit sweater is from Express. =D
By this coming Sunday I will wash my hair and wear it in its natural state again, so don’t get used to the post with my hair down and in the wind. LOL
The above photos are just some shots that I took the last couple of weeks around my apartment and around Dallas. The last photo is of one of the most recent clients whose work I finished this weekend. She was so much fun. I will try and post a couple of pictures from her set pretty soon. I also love the sticker graffiti of the One-Up Mushroom.
Lastly, Karl Lagerfeld and his cat, Choupette. I LOVE this photo so much! Partially because I LOVE cats, partially because I love black and white, and partially because I love fashion. If you don’t know who Karl Lagerfeld is I’m going to suggest you open up a magazine… and quickly!
I originally saw this picture in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar entitled “Kat Daddy.” In the article Karl speaks in-depth and lovingly about fashion’s infamous feline. I say all this to say that after I saw this picture and read the article I then quickly scanned the internetz for a picture of it. Earlier that day as I was throwing away trash down the shoot I saw someone left a pretty immaculate dark wood frame to be trashed. I wanted to pick it up at the point but didn’t because I didn’t have any use for it. After I saw this picture I knew that I needed that frame in my life because I wanted to place that picture of Karl and his kitten in it. I plan on hanging the photo either in my room or in the stairwell going to my future studio upstairs. I will let you know what I decide.
I actually ordered the 11×14 (I think that’s the size) print from Shutterfly Sunday night… and as of Monday they have it processed to ship. It should arrive between 10/04 and 10/10.
I am SO EXCITED about this!
Okay… So did I bore you to tears yet? LOL!

Interesting and nice blog.
Nice photography.
Thank you!
Loooove the hair straight and you looked lovely in tht sweater! I am also natural, but I wear mostly wigs or canerows (what we call cornrows here) with added hair to work. This is because I have colour in and HR thinks it’s inappropriate for the office! So during my vacation which is coming up in a couple of weeks I will get to wear it out – and I’m sooo excited!
I plan on wearing it straightened during that time as well as I’d like to get it cut. But I worry it won’t look as fluffy and bouncy as yours
because it doesn’t seem to be as thick as it always was anymore.
Will keep everyone updated tho!
(sorry for this loong response :/) lol
WOW!!! HR thinks is inappropriate? Did they state why? Well, I’m happy your vacation is coming up so you can run FREEEEEEEEE! I hope you post pictures of your hair straight.
My hair is actually REALLY fine and the only reason it appears fluffy and bounce is because the stylist cut my hair into layers to make it look like it had more volume.
I can’t wait to see your update!
your hair looks great!!
aww love!! you hair looks beautiful darling! you look absolutely gorgeous!!
