Archive for February, 2011

The Oscars were funny to me this year… (Thank God for Twitter).  I watched the whole thing cuz I really do like movies… no matter how much I complain about them.

I really do not have a whole list of bad dressers for the 2011 Oscars.  I mean there were some, but they were just so  *meh* that it’s not even worth the energy to type how bad they are.  So this go around I really only have three bad dressers and my regular 5 best dressers. I will also have a list of honorable mentions in my next post.

BEST DRESSED OF THE NIGHT: Jennifer Hudson

The first word that shot into my mind when I saw her?  DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUM!!!! Go on girl!  She looked AMAZING! Jennifer Hudson is at her PERFECT weight and shouldn’t change a dayum thing about her.  (Aside from the fact that lace front wig needs some helps) she took old fashion Hollywood glam and modernized it!  WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERK girl!!!!

JHud is rockin’ an orange Versace gown!  And she knows how to showcase that bad boy!  I am sooooooooooo happy she is comfortable with herself.  It shows in how she’s  wearing that dress and how she carries herself!

Sanda Bullock

Home girl is SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAYIN’ them in this blood red Vera Wang dress and Jimmy Choo shoes.  I LOVED her presenting for the award for Best Leading Male Actor in a motion picture.  Ms. Bullock is sassy, witty, charming, and beautiful.  I love that she can make fun of herself and her life.  She knows her life is on center stage due to the whole Jesse James bit, but girlfriend owned it and ran with it!  Go ahead girl!

Camila Alves

CamiliaAlves004

Who is she?  She is Matthew McConaughey’s baby mama. And when I saw her my breath was taken away.  I’m not the one for black dresses at major events, but this by far is one of the most beautiful black dresses I have ever had the honor of laying my eyes on. This Kaufman Franco Dress was paired with Stuart Weitzman Shoes, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, and a Kotur bag. Trust me when I state this.  Starting tomorrow designers are going to be BEGGING MS. Alves to sport their clothes all over town!

Hilary Swank

She needs to write the book on how to wear feathers.  This is what I consider GLAMOUR! When you are going to a swanky event, YOU DRESS LIKE YOU’RE GOING TO A SWANKY EVENT! And Swank brought the Swanky!  *Two Snaps* HAHAHAHAAHAHA Hilary, please  thank Gucci Premier for dressing you in this couture strapless dress.

Helen Mirren

She proves that just because she’s 65 does not mean her head is not on the game.  This woman is BEAUTIFUL!  I mean just BEAUTIFUL! She is wearing a  Vivienne Westwood gun metal grey dress.  The jewels are from Cartier.

WORST DRESS

WORST DRESS OF THE NIGHT:  Scarlett Johansson

I LOVE her.  I really do… but her looks on the red carpet this award season has been less than stellar.  Tonight was no exception.  This Dolce and Gabbana dress #failed.  I LOVE lace and I love this color, but I just don’t love it together.  I really don’t think this dress is Oscars worthy.  I don’t even know where this dress would be appropriate… an 1852 brothel maybe?  The “just-got-laid” hair wasn’t working for Ms. Johansson.  *insert sad face here*

Nonetheless, I still like ScarJo… I just hope she takes this serious the next go around.

Florence Welch

You see the picture.  She wears the SAME EXACT DRESS TO EVERY AWARD SHOW.  Enough said.

Amy Adams

Amy is DROWNING in this navy blue sequin L’Wren Scott dress.  The dress is clearly too heavy for the petite star.  There is NOTHING cute about it.  Only certain people can pull off sequin, and the moment she put on that dress she should have realized she was CLEARLY not one of those people.  To make matters worse, the petite start is wearing 1.35 million dollars worth of emerald and diamond jewelry from Cartier.  Because the dress is so mugly, the neckline too high, and the pieces not matching this was a total fail for Cartier.

Michelle Obama was looking GREAT on February 24th, 2011 when the White House hosted the White House Music Series that featured Motown artist.

First Lady Obama looked FABULOUS (and as soon as I find a full body picture I will post it). She wore a black satin and silk taffeta L’Wren Scott jumpsuit and a subtle multi-stranded necklace. She looked great, but not in your face.

I believe the First Lady has a great sense of taste in fashion. What’s do you guys think?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH!

That’s all I can really saw bout this American Apparel’s ad.  Have you guys been to that store?!  I have because I bought some GORGEOUS thigh high stripped socks form them… but they were $15 in themselves…. And I bought two different pairs. *ugh* ($30 on 2 pairs of socks, really?!)

I personally believe a lot of the clothes in that store is just way too overpriced for something that’s massed produced and nothing speacial.  That’s just MY opinion.

However, I will give it to American Apparel.  They know how to make a person rubberneck it!  The above campaign is from American Apparel’s swimwear line.  This ad was deemed too sexy for the USA, so it’s only going to be shown in Europe.  The ad promotes the companies new Nylon Tricot Suspender Swimsuit.

AA is probably using this shock value to try to raise more capital.  It has been reported that American Apparel is in danger of going out of business. The company has stood a 7 million dollar loss which pushed them into a $120 MILLION DOLLAR DEBT!

American Apparel is pretty much pulling a Kim Kardashian of the fashion world to help stay relevant.  The company should raise more awareness with a different approach, because our society is quickly becoming desensitized from seeing private parts.

The picture below is another AA ad that features a girl in a room full of mannequins wearing only a pair of sunglasses, nail polish, and panties.

M.I.A Gets a Makeover?!

Hands down M.I.A (goverment name Mathangi Arulpragasam) is one of my favorite artist of all times!  She can bring her own fashion, thought, and creativity into a song while making the song both politically thought provoking and club worthy.  However, in my recent history M.I.A has been in the news for her comments to the press.  I don’t really want to get into it… and that’s mainly cuz i’m too lazy, however, to some it all up her and a reporter named Lynn Hirschberg got into it after the reporter wrote an article on M.I.A that she did not like.

M.I.A put the reporter on blast by posting her phone number on Twitter (that’s one way to get someone back).  Lynn Hirschberg from the New York Times pretty much called M.I.A a terrorist, a hypocrite, and belittled her music.  I will have to admit, the articule started off with the author not being true to form.  Writing NEWS stories is about being unbiased about the subject and just reporting.  If you like to read the article and form your own opinion you can click here.

Meanwhile, this post is not about slander, it’s about fashion.  M.I.A stated that she is currently reinvinting herself.  Apparently she is trying to be more glam (by her own standards).  Below is a pic of her with blond hair (I prefered the brown), and  in a GORGEOUS teal dress.  I need to find a full pictured of that dress STAT.  Tell me what you guys think of this pic M.I.A posted on Twitter.

I’m Going Crazy & Need to Make Some Changes!!!

I feel like doing something, but nothing at all at the same time. Am I crazy? *sigh* I’m just… idk…

I feel like I don’t have enough time. But when I get home all I really do is lay around and see what my DVR found for me… Then I go to bed at 1AM, begrudgingly wake up at 7:45 AM, and think, “Shit! I have to be at work at 8!”

Every day the same cycle.

Every day the same thoughts.

I have even been slugging on the blogging tip. I don’t think I posted anything for 2 weeks until yesterday.

My running as slugged off as well.

I’m just simply not in the mood to do anything. Yet complain I don’t have enough time to do anything. Or sometimes even complain I don’t have anything to do.

I know I’m not the only one who does this.

I’m in my 20’s, it’s 8:30 PM, and I’m in my fuckin’ pajamas. Seriously?! I’m sure my dog even thinks I’m lame.

So with that… I’m putting all this out to the universe. I’m making some changes. Every month I will increase those changes to make a better me.   So I’m going to start off with 6 objections.

1.) Run 35 miles a week

2.) Work on my photography an hour a day (2 hours on Saturday and Sunday)

3.) Clean my apartment for 35 minutes everyday

4.) Write for 20 minutes everyday

5.) Makes 3 blog entries a night

6.) Spend 30 minutes a night learning how to start my own business

I’m going to start this tomorrow… I would start it tonight, but I’m nowhere near motivated to get out of my PJs and get into some Adidas gear.

Plus my dog is passed on my lap like a drunk. I’m not in the mood to move him only to have him just jump back on my lap and pass out in (dog) fetal position.

I think this is a subtle yet great way to start getting me interested back in life.

I LOVE doing my YouTube videos for my fashion channel, but I feel like I need to EXPAND it. Make it better. That’s why I live for the weekends. This week I’m doing my top 10 list of favorite items of 2010. So this week should be an easy edit. Plus my mom and my nephew are coming up from Austin so I should have some great and fun footage.

Stay tuned as I keep you updated with how I’m doing with everything… I’ll also post pictures of my weekend with my mom and nephew on my blog come Sunday.
