Fat Ho Burgers in Waco, Texas
So on my way back from Austin I decided to stop in Fat Ho Burgers as by suggestion from one of my ex coworkers. Fat Ho Burger is this new joint in Waco that has been under fire due to its name. Now I have to tell you, that the owner is actually a genius for the title of the restaurant because it has brought worldwide attention. People from all over the country have been traveling to go to the infamous burger joint with the scandalous name. Ray William Johnson featured this restaurant on his YouTube sight and has had over 6.6 MILLION hits! Like the old saying goes… there is no such thing as bad publicity.
Fat Ho is the typical hole in the wall place located in Waco, best known for David Koresh and Baylor University.
Upon reading up on the hole in the wall it was noted that there can be a wait. I got lost in Waco trying to find the place, but luckily I stopped in a Family Dollar were a girl informed me exactly where it was located. She actually lives in the apartment complex next to it and was complaining how she can never find parking due to the excitement of the place.
I get there and I love the atmosphere. It’s a HUGE hole in the wall. There were tons of college students. There was a bit of wait for the food, but it wasn’t so bad because the owner, her family, and all the Baylor University students kept me highly entertained.
This place was far cry from Dallas’s typical pretentious restaurants. Everyone was extremely laid back. Since there isn’t booths and just basically tables and chairs (that did not match, but who cares) there is an open layout that invites you and whoever else is in the restaurant (even if you don’t know them) to just talk to you. It’s a very free spirited atmosphere.
The food was priced correctly. I was honestly expecting to pay $7 or $8 for a burger, but I ended only paying $5.25 for a burger and some fries. I ordered a Supa Fly Ho Burger with bacon and cheese, essentially a Bacon Cheeseburger. The burger was great… loaded with veggies and a couple of nice thick slices of bacon. What I LOVED even better was the fries. They didn’t add any extra salt on them and they tasted divine.
The best part of the restaurant was meeting Mama Ho and her daughter “Boss Ho.” What’s even more amazing is the woman who created and owns Fat Ho Burger is only 24! I must hand it to her. She did the dayum thing. I loved her family because everyone was so genuinely sincere, fun, and humble. The staff was fantastic!
You don’t really get that anymore these days. I’d prefer to eat at a place full of nice fun people than an overpriced pompous restaurant any day. The only thing I would suggest for this restaurant is that they create souvenir T-Shirts that people can buy. I know for sure I would have purchased one of the shirts the cook was wearing: ‘Fat Ho Burger. You are what you eat.”
If you are in the Waco area or driving through I would suggest you make a pit stop at Fat Ho Burgers. You will not be disappointed. Make sure you say hi to Mama Ho! At Fat Ho you’re not just there for the meal but for the experience. Really… isn’t that what’s life about?
When you come in your see a painting of a Mariachi band. As you can see the writing is on the wall and the people LOVE Fat Ho Burgers. I’m not sure what the Mariachi band has to do with anything though.
A patron writing on the wall.
The menu was on a piece of paper that everyone had to team up and share.

Not that this picture has ANYTHING to do with Fat Ho Burgers, but ONLY in Waco would you find an old ass gas pump like this!
