Mr. West is in the Building!
WOW! Have the models even left the stage before Kanye West’s first fashion show pictures hit the web?! The fashion presented by the “Louis Vuitton Don’s” Spring/Summer 2012 campaign debut today (tomorrow) in Milan. It appears that the show was headed up by one of my favorite new supermodel, Chanel Iman.
Mr. West’s first line was dedicated to one of the most important women in his life. His mother.
Final Analysis of the looks
Unlike Kanye West himself, he took safe choices in his looks. Very monochromatic choices. Will he get a lot of flak for it? Yes. People will wonder if the clothes he designed REALLY represent his “I DON’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT WHAT Y’ALL THINK” personality. I think many print publication, bloggers, and photographers expected something loud, daring, and uncanning. Yet, that wasn’t represented tonight. I feel as though a fashion collection should represent a designer. My question to Mr. West, does this collection really represent you?
The good thing about the clothes… they weren’t bad, BUT the styles he’s drawing can already be seen on the streets of Dallas. We are looking for something new.
How this initial collection benefits Kanye.
Of all the collections featured during Fashion Month Mr. West will be the high street fashion fave. I can honestly see myself rocking pieces from his collection on the streets of Dallas. The clothes aren’t outlandish to a point where I wouldn’t buy them. I honestly would take a second look at what he has to offer. I do like the slouchy tops. They are nice, clean, and mostly importantly, realistic.
Where would I like to see Kanye go from here?
There is no doubt Mr. West has fantastic personal style. We, as a public, have seen him not follow the status quo in fashion and owned the look. What I love is he is
seemingly a straight man designing clothes. I would buy just based on this. When men pick out clothes for a woman, it is special, because men are picking out clothes they want to see you in… what they believe would look sexy on you. I want Mr. West to design high end red carpet dresses. I can see him SUCCESSFULLY accomplishing that. I would also love to see him design men clothes that suitable for both casual and formal events.
Mr. West has a marketable line here. I would like to see him become more daring in his next fashion showcase. I know he would be successful in designing luxury clothes for both men and women. As long as he doesn’t lose sight to who he is and what got him to this point of RIGHT NOW… he will forever sustain the Midas touch in all elements of his portfolio of life.
