Avengers Movie Review
I know the Avengers has very little to do with fashion, but we can take a non-fashion break… for at least one day. I mean c’mon, the movie brought in 200 MILLION DOLLARS on its OPENING WEEKEND. You have to be out of your mind to think I wouldn’t discuss it.
200 million dollars. Can you believe that?!
Avengers is just one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. It highlights the characters Nick Fury, Black Widow, Iron Man, The Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain America, and Thor. All the marvel movies in the last 5-7 years were all leading up to the Avengers movie.
I don’t watch a lot of TV so I’m not sure if the trailers revealed who the villain was. From my understanding the trailers did not. However, the villain in the movie is Loki. Loki is the half brother of Thor.
The plot is the same as it is in ever Sci-Fi/Comic movie. A person from another dimension wants to take over Earth to make the human their slaves. Yes, it’s really that simple. The story really follows how this group of superheroes band together to make a team.
I was honestly worried about Scarlett Johansson’s character, Black Widow. Never fear. Black Widow doesn’t just pounce around like a sexy figure and pose the entire time. She is actually carrying her end in a badass way. I’m really happy that Hollywood is highlighting the female fighters without over sexualizing them. They are seeing that female crime fighters don’t need to super sexy to be liked.
I thought the Hulk was going to be another character pushed to the side. He was not. I have only seen one of the Hulk movies, and that was more than enough for me. I honestly didn’t enjoy it. However, watching the Avengers yesterday made me realize why I loved watching the Hulk reruns as a child. Mark Ruffalo played the character perfectly. You could really understand why you didn’t want him to turn in the Hulk. It was cool seeing how he has been trying to control the character.
The movie was funny. It has the perfect mix of action, drama, and comedy. At no point did the film take itself too seriously.
I would suggest anyone see it. I am honestly more excited about see the Dark Knight Rises this summer. No doubt do I think the Avengers will make good money, but I feel Batman will blow them out of the water.
Did you guys see the movie this weekend? What did you think?
