Full Circle Tavern
I am not a foodie or even a professional writer. I am a photographer. I am human. I just like to eat. So yesterday (04.13.2013) my friend and I went to the Dallas Flea to check out all the goodies. Well, we worked up an appetite from walking around so much. Since we are not the familiar with that part of the Dallas we went into Opening Bell Cafe and asked one of the personal where a good place was to get some meat (or in my friend’s case a vegetarian meal). The lady advised us that a new place called Full Circle Tavern had JUST opened up on Wednesday (04/10/2013) and that we should check it out. She stated that she was familiar with the ladies that opened up the restaurant and that one of them happened to be a Vegan so she would only imagine that they would have vegetarian items on the menu. She advised that if we walked through the NYLO hotel (which I still need to make plans to sit on the rooftop) we would hit the restaurant. She also affirmed that they have a great patio or we would opt to sit inside.
Well, the advice given was golden. The patio in Full Circle can really only be rivaled with ones in Austin. I haven’t seen that many good patios in Dallas (not that the patio scene in Dallas is bad… it can just be cramped). The place is easy going. It’s not fancy… we didn’t need to wait for a hostess to great us. In fact the bartender (in a friendly voice) advised us to just sit anywhere and a waiter would find us. In fact one did, we didn’t need to wait very long for the waiter. After placing our order instead of bread we were given freshly made ranch kettle chips. They did have a lot of salt but still a good touch.
We didn’t have to wait an extended period of time to get our food. I forgot what my friend ordered (sorry I don’t keep up with what vegetarian do LOL), but it was a portabella mushroom with marinara sauce served in a baguette bread. She said she loved it! I know she was telling the truth because there wasn’t a crumb left.
I ordered fried pricked okra and cheese fries. Whenever I don’t know what I want to eat I always go with cheese fries.
For the okra… ummm… we felt like it was heaven in our mouths. Perhaps my friend and I are semi biased because we LOVE okra, but it was delicious. I would encourage everyone to try it once if you are fan of okra.
The cheese fries were good as well. I liked the fact that it was simple and the fact that it included good quality bacon that had rub on it. The rub make a HUGE difference I ate my ENTIRE plate. I am one of those people who love eating salsa or pico with my cheese fries and the restaurant didn’t have it. Nonetheless it was still good.
My friend and I didn’t have any drinks because it was a bit warm and since we had been walking around a majority of the day we didn’t want to get dehydrated. However, I did run into an old friend at the joint and she advised us that the bar still needed to work on their drink mixture combination. They had about three mojitos and had to keep telling their waiter what to do to make them taste better. Other than that they had a great time.
The patio, I believe is also dog friendly… so be sure to bring Fido.
Prices… nothing astronomically. The menu is about $7-$12 for food. Definitely budget friendly.
Since I’m not a professional writer… just a normal person who likes to eat I won’t give it any rating. I was just tell you that if you live in the area and want a nice relaxing place to check out then Full Circle Tavern is a place you should keep in mind.
