Grand Opening!

Club Monaco has opened in the West Village in Dallas.  Well,… not all of it, just a small women’s boutique.

Never heard of Club Monaco?

Well, think of Banana Republic.  Go it?  Now think of Banana Republic with more style and less pretentiousness. You got Club Monaco!

The event was hosted by North Texas’s own Judy (Atlantis Home) and Jane (Sea of Shoes), the dynamic mother-daughter blogger duo.  I had the opportunity of meeting and chatting with both these ladies.  They are both so sweet and polite in person… not that I expected anything else.  They also brought along their (very well behaved) Chihuahua, Kim.  Now if I brought my mangy mutt he would have been all over the place.  Jax would begin rolling on his back begging for someone ANYONE to rub his belly.

I digress.

Club Monaco has opened a new location in the heart of Uptown.  There are numerous restaurants, bars, and retails shops in blinking distance of each other in this location.  It’s obvious Club Monaco did their market research.  There are plenty of women in their target market who flock to that area.  As long as they keep their window displays fun, organized, and updated they should have no problem attracting more clientele (especially on Sundays when many are out having brunch at Lemon Bar or Taco Diner).

I would consider Club Monaco High Street wear.  There are more than a couple of pieces I would rock if I had a traditional job (I run and operate a bio diesel plant in Dallas.  Yes, I know I’m young.  Yes, I know I’m female).  However, a lot of the pieces are great for summer weekends with friends.  Think brunches, beaches, and mimosas.

I’m done typing.  Check out the photojournalistic pictures below!

The store in itself if aesthetically pleasing.

Visit the store yourself:

3699 McKinney Avenue
Dallas, 75204

Judy and her beautiful daughter!

Fig jam atop of goat cheese.  Yummy!

I LOVE Jane’s Barbara Bui Boots!

I LOVED everything about her style.  The entire outfit was from Club Monaco.

Attending the Club Monaco event and having the opportunity of meeting and speaking with both Judy and Jane made my day.  It was a quaint and simple opening that many could appreciate on a 105 Wednesday evening in Texas.  Having cold champagne waiting at the door was a nice an elegant touch for this summer event.  What was even better was the fact the clothes were summer elegant.  Think  old money glamour.

Leave me a comment below if you attended this event.

Side Note: I have 5 different shoots for the next 5 days!  I know!  I’m a wanted woman, so post may be slow coming up,  the next week.

Go Girl!  It’s Your Birthday!

You guys have seen this dress before so it’s nothing new.  I have posed the video of the dress above.  Last night was my girl’s 28th birthday parties so I wanted to show up comfortable yes cute.  I wore this and my chunk sandals that were previously seen here.  Below are pictures of some of us at the birthday party.  I only took a limited amount because one girl in our group started fighting with another girl and my camera dropped out of my hand while I’m trying to break up the fight (I’m trying to stop the violence).

I have 25 minutes to post 2 blogs… This is not going to happen… Plus I have Nicki Minaj playing in the background

“Just let those bums blow steam.  Radiator

Sorry, I have blogging terests and I had to get that out.  (Please note this will happen a lot in this blog.)

“You ain’t my son.  You my motherfuckin’ stepson!

Okay… on Sunday I took my dog Jaxson to the dog park.  He loves it.  I wore a REALLY simple, nothing to really blog about outfit.  Why am I posting it… cuz I can =p

This my favorite bag.  It’s a HUGE cassette.  I don’t rock it as often as i should.  I’ll probaby use it as a prop in one my my shoots.

I walked to the dog park and after 30 minutes of playing Jax and I left.  Well, halfway home I realized that I left my cellphone there.  I had to WALK all the way back  to PRAY it was still there… and it was!  I mean it was just out and NO ONE TOOK IT!  Thank you God!  You had my back!

Something to Wear:  June 26th-July 01st

Can you believe that the Fourth of July is NEXT WEEKEND?!  How FAST these last 6 months went! I should have some really good fashion finds this week for you guys.  Here are my choices for these weeks Something to Wear!

Let the street/office/bar/dog park be your catwalk.

Sunday: This BY FAR is my FAVORITE outfit of this week!  I’m going to pull this look myself.  I LOVE WHITE lace (or lace in general) and soft pinks (salmon, coral, etc.).  I LOVE how simple and elegant this outfit is.  At the same time is screams OLD MONEY AND GLAMOUROUS!  The sunglasses, that OVERSIZE Python bag! What’s NOT to love about this look?!  I love the vintage beads as well.  I just LOVE how well they compliment the pants.

If this is what Italy is like then I need to get there STAT!

Monday: Currently the Satorialist is in Milan shooting for Fashion Week.  He shot my Monday inspiration, Janie.  I LOVE when women rock menswear, but still manage for it to look feminine.  I LOVE the material and the vintage inspiration associated with her blazer.  The tie, the hat, the glasses.   There is just something so sexy about her pull.

Tuesday: Tuesday is kinda one those BLAH days to me.  I always forget about it until Wednesday.  The faster Tuesday gets here, the faster Wednesday at 5PM hits.  I live for my weekends.  Meanwhile, let’s change that up… at least for this week.

Kileen from Cute and Little brings us a great Tuesday look for the working girl who doesn’t like the cookie cutter style.  This pull is an ode to 80’s chiq.  I’m loving the fantastic execution of color blocking in this style.  It tells me that you have a great and warm personality.  It really draws people to you.  I love the infinity necklace as well.

Wednesday: There is ONE thing you CANNOT say about Tanesha, that she has no style.  EVERY week this girl brings bangin’ outfits and this week is NO exception!  This is a great look for Wednesday.  You are halfway through your week and why not brighten is up with a pop of yellow?  Not only do I love the color and the design of the shirt, but I LOVE the skirt.  The LV bag isn’t bad at all either.

Thursday: So I was having the HARDEST time finding a Thursday look.  Good for me because I found a NEW fashion blogger.  I had to go all the way to Spain to find her, but my long trip was well worth it.  Her name is Alicia. Her blog is Mi Mundo (My World).  She is amazing.

I know this outfit might be a little risqué for work, but how far do you know you can go if you don’t push the envelope?  Especially if that envelope looks like a bright orange clutch?

Friday: Chiara from the Blonde Salad has a fashion sense second to none.  She is quite amazing.  Today she brings up a great Friday look.  It’s very simple and very chic.  It’s the lazy girls color blocking.  I’m a simple girl who LOVES to abuse the use of accessories.  I’m not one of those who believe that one should only wear two pieces of jewelry at one time.  The more the better! Chiara and I share that same idealogy.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Chiara’s BALENCIAGA CITY GIANT WHITE BAG.

This is the perfect look to unwind from a tight long work week.  I would love to wear this Friday night meeting up with girlfriends at a wine or vodka lounge.  Hmmmm… A vodka lounge next Friday sounds like an excellent idea.

Saturday:  I found a new fashion blogger with the help of Fashion Paparazzi.  Meet Dara. I LOVE her style.  Very fun and SUPER chiq.  This is a great look for a Saturday afternoon or early evening grabbing drinks with friends.  It’s not super sexy, but it looks like you put some effort into your look.

I love the clash in textures because it really works with this piece.  I would have never thought to pair a 3D skirt with a printed buttoned up nonetheless.  The belt and the undershirt really bring this look together.

I hope you guys enjoyed these looks for the week.  Which one do you like the best?

Earlace Uncovered…

At first I hated the Earlace look, but it’s so freakin’ easy to make and I know I make it better than buying it for $120.  Well, maybe not that super fancy. I mean I went to Michael’s to get my supplies, but all the supplies together cost less than 10% of the necklace in the link.

I’m not doing a step-by-step tutorial on this one cuz I’m too lazy it’s really that easy to follow.

I hope you guys are having a lovely Saturday.  I’m about to wash my hair, watch some YouTube videos, get ready to pull 4 hours at the job, and then get my place ready for my make shift movie night with some of my friends.

What’s everyone doing tonight?

June 19th– 25th

I know! I know! I know! Not ONLY am I three days late with my fashion picks of the week, but I didn’t even give you a complete list. This week in fashion was a really hard one for me. It was pulling teeth finding REALLY good outfits. I didn’t want to give you guys a half ass list. Therefore I ONLY listed the otufits that I really liked.

Hey, at least I’m honest!

=)

Sunday: Now you don’t have to be Extra Petite to pull off this outfit! maxi dresses are a hot commodity this summer. I LOVE how this dress hangs, and with such a simple canvas one can really make this dress her own. What’s even better than the color of this piece is the fact that it’s going to be comfortable. It’s made out of Jersey Cotton. You really can’t get much better than that.

All pictures courtesy of Extra Petite

Monday: We are all running late to work on Mondays and it’s just so easy to slip on a dress and run out the door. Katherine from Feather Factor shows us how GREAT the sweater dress really is. Now I KNOW it’s officially summer but this dress is so lightweight that I would be comfortable to wear in your office building. We all know how cold it can get in buildings. What’s even better about her particular article is how versatile this dress is. It can seriously go from day to not with a simple change of accessory.

To make this dress even more work appropriate try pairing it with a black cropped sating blazer and black heels.

All pictures courtesy of Feather Factor

Tuesday: Extra Petiteis on top of her fashion game this week as she hits us with another fantastic work look. This one is sexy yet subtle. She makes the Amarita Singh (one of my new favorite custom jewelry designers) necklace the focal point of the outfit.

I would pull this look off with a color blocking technique matching the necklace with a shrug that compliments the color. This would really make the dress pop… especially against a nude dress.

All pictures courtesy of Extra Petite

Friday: We have to go Germany to pull our next look. Chiara from the Fashion Paparazzi shows us how to make a jaguar print shirt look classy. Now if you know me… you know I HATE animal print anything. It’s the FASTEST way for a woman to look a hot mess. However, Chiara makes me want to pull this same oufit, but I think it has a lot do with how fantastic that top she’s wearing hangs on the body.

Now this defiantly a top you can wear from the office to Friday Happy Hour. I know MOST of us can’t pull off skirts like that in the office without getting the side eye from upper management, so I suggest pairing it with skinny jeans and some badass black heels. A black blazer will also do wonders for that look too.

I’m also loving the chunky heel she’s pulling. It’s really pulls the oufit together!

All pictures courtesy of Fashion Paparazzi.

Saturday: What a fantastic weekend outfit. I love how free the Glamourai makes this outfit look. I’m really feeling the large printed shorts and the simple shirt with a lot of detail. Though I’m not a fan of the sunglasses (for my taste) she makes them look so appealing.

A Care Package

So last weekend one of my friends from YouTube, TatMom43, sent me a care package! TatMom is a GREAT person on YouTube to watch and even better person to get to know. I really enjoy her videos, emails, and personality. I highly suggest that you guys check out her channel and sub. It’s like talking to a friend. *lol*

As mentioned in my featured video, she sent me a care package. Now I LOVED everything in it, but my initial video was too long and I hate super long haul videos. I also had an assortment of topics I wanted to touch on in the video so I had to pick my favorite five items.

Now the package actually consisted of:

  • 2 bangles
  • Glitter Silver Belt
  • 3 pairs of earrings
  • Shorts
  • 2 shirts
  • Key chain
  • A Hello Kitty Necklace
  • Hello Kitty digital camera
  • A card
  • And a personal letter

That’s a lot right?! I want to say thank you so much to Peg for taking her time, effort, and money to send me such a fantastic care package. I appreciate this more than I can express. It just means so much. It really does. I really really really does.

Check out the pictures below!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

All they do is win!  Win!  Win!  No matter what!

WOW!

What a massive and spectacular game last at Miami’s American Airline Arena! I told EVERYONE Dallas would win the 2011 NBA Championships GAME 6! What did Jason Terry, Dirk, Tyson, Marion, JJ, and the rest of the Mavs do last night?! They showed up in Heat’s House and turned on the A/C! Dallas Mavericks won!

EVERYONE was saying that Dallas was going to lose the finals because they were “too old.” The Mavericks proved last night with their historic win that “age ain’t nothing but a number.”

Of the starting five only one player is under the age of 30 (Chandler, 28).

How did Dallas win?!

 Integrity

Heart

Teamwork

 No Excuses

I. Integrity

The thing about the Mavericks, and Texas ideology overall, we don’t need to talk shit to prove a point (not before anyway.  You never want to put your foot in your mouth… we do it after the final buzzard). Texans respect the game. As you will notice

My little (BIG) brother and me at the American Airlines Center after the Mavericks historic win. Not the best picture, but at least we were able to capture of moment with the entire City of Dallas had ONE HEART BEAT! Go Mavs!

watching all the rounds with Miami Dallas NEVER said anything negative. The team never talked about the Heat. They only counteracted after something asinine (such as LeBron claiming Dirk was faking sick) when need be. They spoke soundly, worked hard, respected each other, and respected the fans. These men are true gentlemen of the NBA.

II. Heart

Dirk doesn’t say much, if anything. Jason Terry though… he’s the mouth piece for the both of them. What really stood out about Jason (and now I understand why everyone loves his presences) is the fact that he CAME IN this game knowing they were going to win, and never let any other thought cross his mind. This level of confidence is something you cannot fake. He wasn’t talking for the cameras. He was speaking from the heart. He KNEW he they were going to win tonight. It’s that kind of confidence, heart, and leadership, that makes a champion.

III. Teamwork

These guys worked together. Unity. One heartbeat. They knew each other’s limitation, and by Game 4 they figured it all out. When people say you are only as strong as your weakest link, it’s the truth. The Mavs aren’t the fastest or youngest team in the NBA, but they are one of the smartest. You have to w

Dirk and Jason Terry embrace after 2011 championship win. They are the only remaining players from the 2006 NBA finals when Mavericks lost to the Heat. This was thier victory! This win means more to them than any of us will ever come to know.

ork with what you have, understand it, mold it, and utilize it. You have to make your situation work for you. Even though the Mavericks have their limitations, they made all the team members individual skills work for them.

VI. No Excuses

For anything they did not accomplish they never made excuses.  They used their drive, skill, love for the game, and overall desire of that ring to

take them home. In life you can make all the excuses that you want for why you didn’t accomplish a goal… but at the end of the day… no matter what you say, you didn’t accomplish it.

So don’t sit there and make excuses anymore. If you didn’t meet your goal for whatever reason, own it, state it, learn from it, and have those mistakes and errors elevate you to the next level. Think about it this way, a person never learned anything by doing it all right the first time. The bigger the error is on the grand scale it’s going to make a larger emotional impact on you. You will never want to make that mistake again. The Mavericks lost the championship in 2006. They know this. The whole world knows this, and this go around they took that lose, owned it, stated it, learned from it, and elevated their playing level to become the world champions of basketball.

I NEVER had a doubt that the Mavericks were going to win the championships. I knew they had this series locked up by Game 6. To be a true champion, no matter what field you’re in, one needs to grasp integrity, love for what they do, work cohesively with a group, and make no excuses for failure. Once you have achieved self actualization you will become a champion.

The Dallas Mavericks knew who they were as a team and brought that trophy home to Dallas.

Congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks!

2011 NBA World Champs

105-95

My brother and I live in downtown. So after the win we decided to walk over to Victory Park and join the masses in celebrating the win of the Dallas Mavericks. It's a bit dark, but you can ONLY imagine how many people were out there!

Nothing to Wear?  Something to Wear!!!

I have wanted to do this series for AWHILE now… and well, Today is Saturday… and damnmit!!! Today is the day.

I’m going to call this series “Something to Wear.” I’m subbed to a TON of fashion bloggers who have great style, and I wanted to highlight their style on my blog! Each blogger will have a day of the week where I think their outfit would look good for.

So for those ladies in a style rut… instead o saying, “I have nothing to wear” you can always come to my blog and find “something to wear!”

The week of June 12th-18th

Sunday, June 12, 2011: Fashion Toast is probably the first fashion blog you have ever subscribed too. I know that’s the truth for me. Right now Rumi, the blogger’s blogger, is currently in Japan where she took this photo. This is a GREAT look for a Sunday (especially in Texas) because it’s an airy spring appropriate dress. Though I’m sure the weather is different in Tokyo (why she may be wearing black ankle boots)I would suggest nude pumps or simple sandals for our current triple digit climate.

Photo from Fashion Toast

Monday, June 13, 2011: If you’re in Texas you have a valid excess to wear shorts to work… especially on a Monday. IT’S HOTTER THAN HADES OUTSIDE! I DARE anyone to question you. I couldn’t pass up this WONDER photo by the Satorialist. I love how light and comfy her shirt looks. The easieness of the oufit. The brown tone. It’s amazing and a great way to get your fashion work week started right.

Photo from the Satorialist.

Tuesday, June 14, 2011: Fashion DinosaurHAS to be the funniest blog that I read! She is also based in Dallas (such as myself) and I LOVE her sense of humour! I will admit, I debated if I should feature this look on my blog because it’s so eclectic… but I was sold based on two things. (1) I love her shoes and I am also, “…have a weakness for all things sparkly, tacky, and impractical.” (2) In the comments someone stated that she looked so Prada. They were so right!

Photo from Fashion Dinosaur

Wednesday, June 13, 2011: Happy Hump Day! : I love this outfit Dallas based blogger Ivonne, from Ivonne Stacy Style is wearing. She is on trend! I’m not a trendy person, but I DO love this texture print skirt. The solid top is great for the work place, but the skirt reveals that you defiantly have a fun side to you!

Photo from Ivonne Stacy Style

Thursday, June 16, 2011: Kimberly from eat.sleep.wear has dynamic and versatile style. I didn’t think much about this outfit until I saw that clutch. I went BONKERS! I always LOVE how such a simple accessory will make or break an outfit! I’m really into envelope clutches right now. You want to know the best thing about this clutch? She freakin’ purchased it at Payless!!!

Once my shopping diet is over I may buy 30 of those bad boys!

Picture from eat.sleep.wear.

Friday, June 17, 2011: PAYDAY! The moment I saw the first picture I knew that this would be a dynamic look for Friday. While most people work in a corporate traditional office that have the ablity to dress and down (I’m jealous). Here Tanesha from Girl with Curves works a great Friday look. I LOVE when jeans are pair with a blazer. That’s an INSTANT way to class up an outfit. What’s even more daring is that the jacket is velvet! I don’t know if you want to attempt that in Texas… but if you work in a very cold building… this look may work.

Photo from Girl with Curves

Saturday, June 11, 2011: Eleven is my FAVORITE number! This dress is my favorite number for this week as well. This dress is what I would wear out in the Texas triple digit summers. My family lives in Austin so I’m there often enough. Austin is VERY different from Dallas… ALL IN GOOD WAYS. Here we find the lovely Joanna from Keep Austin Stylish wearing my favorite color CORAL! She purchased this beautiful find from SoLa. From my understanding, it’s an Austin based company. Check her post out to see what shoes she wore!

Pictures from Keep Austin Stylish

Honorable Mention

Wendy’s from Wendy’s Look Book Dior Cavaliere boots. I think I orgasimed 15 times when I saw this picture… *pause* make that 16. I couldn’t feature these boots because it’s freakin’ hot here… but come fall… there will definitely be a revisit. I NEED to get these shoes in my life STAT!
