Black Shorts!
We have about a little more than a week left in summer so we have to soak up the sun as much as we can. In North Texas the upcoming weeks are still going to meet or exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit so we can still rock the shorts.
However, these shorts are thick, tweed, and navy inspired. These can easily go from summer to fall with the quick use of tights. These black shorts are great because they are (a) black, (b) made of warm material, and (c) shorts.
I. Preppy
This is a great look that you can pull at school or on weekends. This is just a simple layering technique. The prep school crop stop is easily paired with a white t-shirt, black shorts, and red heels. If you want to go for a simpler look just remove the top and you can go classic Americana.

II. Pretty
I love this polka tiered dot crop top I purchased from Strut! This is a great look for Saturday afternoon lunches or a simple outfit to wear to the movies with your man.

III. Grunge.
I don’t consider myself a trendy person on the least. If I like what I see I just buy it. However, growing up as a kid in the 90’s I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE L.O.V.E.D flannel, the grunge look, and Nirvana. I just loved how laid back and hassle free the look was. My dad HATED it. LOL. He felt a little girl should dress like a little girl. Yet, he continued to let me rock the clothes in his closet.
Nonetheless I really love this black and white flannel tunic. I love the sleeves, the bagginess, the ease of design, plus I like the fact it flashes me back to the 90’s. To give it a 2011 edge I paired this look with some open toed booties, a cinch belt, and decided to layer this look with a lot of hardware jewelry.
